I thought he did sweep right over the idea of the U.S. drug problem on 2 fronts. The first area briefly extolled as being overhauled is the Medical costs due to so many doctors owning stock in their products like Pharmacea which fell under "controlling the costs of medical care"; and second the creation of new border patrol jobs along our borders in Texas which can help tremendously in curtailing illegal drug supply. They are linked due in part to the vast number of t.v. ads that promote drug usage which conditions the American public that drugs are okay at any cost! That form of blatant advertising tends to instill in most people that drugs are available so why not become dependent upon them. One thing I cannot find is fault in his speech about any persons responsibility for ones own actions. If you choose to smoke dope or inject heroin, that is a personal choice which is beyond the control of anyone except the person making that choice.




Because the issue isn't about the U.S.'s drug abuse problem. The issue is about Mexican drug lords crossing the border into the U.S. and kidnapping and killing U.S. citizens, which basically fits the dictionary definition of not only TERRORISM but ACTS OF WAR.





This is much, MUCH bigger than a bunch of American losers smoking weed or snorting coke. This is about large organized groups from another country boldly crossing our border and attacking our citizens. The Mexican drug cartels have all but unified themselves into their own governing organization - the Mexican government not only has no control, but the drug cartels have been attacking and killing thousands of Mexican police officers and soldiers. And a handful of American police officers have already been murdered.





This is not about "drug abuse". It's about a direct threat to the sovereign rights of two governments. We have accomplished exactly dick in Iraq - it is time to reduce our presence there and reallocate our troops back here where they can do some REAL good. Which is by bombing the crap out or the Mexican border.

Obama didn't address the U.S.'s drug problem because he was asked ABOUT MEXICO.





Last time I checked, Mexico isn't the US.




He probably wasn't told by anyone what to say if it came up and it wasn't on his teleprompter.
